Philosophy

I began Serenity in 1999 as a Complementary Health Business offering a number of hands on treatments to bring balance to mind, body and spirit. As a Holistic Clinical Aromatherapist I needed to offer my clients a way of continuing the benefits of the treatment between sessions, and the natural development was the creation of aromatherapy products for home use.

Over the last few years this has evolved as my concern with what we put into our bodies through our skin began to increase. I feel that all aspects of life - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual are blended together. My belief in a holistic approach means that I have a strong affinity with the power of complementary therapies in the fight against 'dis-ease', and my products are chosen to support this outlook on life. This is my driving force; I believe that everything I produce has great healing potential.

There has been a lot of publicity recently regarding what we eat, however I feel that what we put into our bodies through our skin is of equal importance. Products which are mass produced and made to have a long shelf life often have artificial chemicals in which can cause skin reactions and actually dry out your skin instead of moisturising it. As this concern grew I decided to take the concept of my aromatherapy products to the next stage and have created a range of skincare products which do exactly what they say but with an essential difference.

All my products are hand created using natural plant extracts and essential oils. For this reason they have a shorter shelf life than those you can buy in the shops, but you can be assured that they are simply what they say they are - natural. Using the gifts that nature provides, each range is specially created to deal with the demands of today's busy lifestyle. This is my way of providing you with the best that nature offers whilst combining the emotional and spiritual benefits of essential oils. In a world where everything is produced in mass amounts and as fast as possible I take the time to hand make each product choosing each ingredient to care for your body naturally.

Serenity of Harrogate makes products with no artificial chemicals at all; no mineral oils, no synthetic fragrances or colours and definitely no animal products. Using my experience as an aromatherapist, all my products are made using the finest ingredients, essential oils, herbs and flower essences, carefully chosen for their therapeutic ability to heal your skin and mind. Where possible organic ingredients are used. Each product range is made with love, care and attention and the desire to provide an active therapeutic range that not only brings positive results but is also a pleasure to use. My wish is to inspire you to care for your body from the outside as well as the inside.

Essential oils such as Rose Absolute are known for their dynamic properties of maintaining and repairing skin. They increase cell renewal, one of the main causes of ageing, speeding up the rate at which our cells reproduce. They also have an immense capacity for oxygenating the skin, by increasing cell metabolism, making the skin brighter and more vibrant. They have powerful anti-free radical properties and are a rich source of amino acids, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. They are important in skin repair of all kinds and are particularly useful for mature skins.

In addition to the product ranges featured it was essential to me to offer you a bespoke range allowing you the chance of having a product made especially for you to your requirements. That way if you are suffering from a specific ailment such as eczema I can create a potion which incorporates the essential oils known to help. You can design your shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, moisturiser or blend and I will make it for you. You can design your product based upon the therapeutic or scent properties.
